
UCLA basketball legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Walton, and legendary former coach John Wooden took the stage along with legendary women Ann Meyers and Denise Curry as all four players permanently retired their jersey numbers and hung their jerseys in Pauley Pavilion in front of a screaming crowd.

UCLA's Rod Foster became a favorite for the basketball team and a nationally recognized player because of his high skill level and being what many considered to be one of basketball's fastest players. He was later drafted out of UCLA to play for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA.

UCLA tennis coach Glenn Bassett became the record holder of the most wins of all active Division 1 NCAA coaches after the tennis team got him his 500th career coaching victory with its win over Washington.
