UC Berkeley students take to the streets to protest police brutality

Organizers of the protest lead the march on Broadway Avenue in Oakland. Throughout the protest, organizers, some wearing green armbands, controlled traffic to make sure the protest ran in an orderly fashion.

Berkeley residents, some with their children in tow, took part in the demonstration Saturday along with hundreds of students.

After starting on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley, protesters marched toward downtown Oakland to attend the Millions March rally.

About 2,500 to 3,000 protesters gathered in front of the Alameda County Courthouse in downtown Oakland for the Millions March rally. Among others, the rally featured speeches from civil rights activists and from families of those who were killed by law enforcement officers.
