University police have reported two break-ins at student apartments in Westwood, both which occurred early Saturday morning.

According to a UCPD alert, a man entered an Ophir Drive apartment through its unlocked front door about 1:40 a.m. Saturday.

A student in the apartment confronted the man, who then ran away, according to the alert.

About half an hour later, the man removed the window screen of another apartment’s bedroom, also on Ophir Drive. The student living inside also confronted the man, who again ran away.

The man was described as black, 25 years old, 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds. He had short afro-style black hair and brown eyes.

Police said he was wearing a white T-shirt, white or light-colored khaki shorts and Converse shoes with calf-high crew socks.

No injuries were reported, and the case is still under investigation.

Police recommend students close and lock their sliding doors with a track bar at all times.

Anyone with information about this incident or other incidents can call UCPD at (310) 825-9371.
