UCLA women’s tennis emerged victorious from a back-and-forth battle against No. 4 seed Duke University in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA championships, with a 4-2 win.

The No. 5 seed Bruins started off strong, with the doubles team of senior Courtney Dolehide and junior Chanelle Van Nguyen fighting fierce heat and humidity to win the first doubles match of the day. Junior Robin Anderson and freshman Jennifer Brady quickly followed up with another win to clinch the doubles point, maintaining UCLA’s long-running doubles point scoring streak.

At the onset of singles matches, Duke proved to be a challenging opponent for UCLA, with the Bruins winning only three of their six first sets. However, the day took a turn in the Bruins’ favor after comebacks made by sophomore Catherine Harrison and Brady in their third sets.

UCLA will enjoy a quick rest before facing off against No. 8 seed Florida in the NCAA championship semifinals Monday at 1 p.m. EST in Athens, Ga.
