A Palms man was arrested late Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed a UCLA alumnus in December, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Michael Vuong, 66, was booked for vehicular manslaughter about 9 p.m. Thursday. He is being held on $100,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

UCLA alum and filmmaker David Pregerson died Dec. 31 at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle on Chautauqua Boulevard in Pacific Palisades. He was 23.

Pregerson’s friends told the Daily Bruin in January that they knew him offset as someone who took center stage wherever he went. He worked on numerous films.

Vuong will be arraigned at the Los Angeles Superior Court Airport Courthouse Monday.
