UCLA rowing’s performance at the Clemson Invitational was characterized by the fact that the team achieved no lower than a fourth-place finish on Sunday, the primary day of competition.

That sole fourth-place finish stood against a backdrop of six other races in which UCLA finished in the top three. Two varsity eight races claimed first-place finishes for UCLA with times of 6:47.90 and 7:04.30.

No. 13 UCLA’s largest competitors seemed to be No.12 Washington State and No. 20 Indiana. On Sunday, UCLA finished in the top three along with at least one of those teams in five races.

The Bruins’ second varsity eight finished third and second-place, respectively, in its races. The varsity four race recorded UCLA’s only fourth-place finish of the day with a time of 8:01.20.

UCLA is set to take on its crosstown rival, USC, on Saturday, May 3 for its next competition. The dual meet will take place in San Pedro, Calif.
