UCLA men’s tennis competes in doubles, prepares for UVA

This past weekend, the UCLA men’s tennis team competed at the 125th Annual Pacific Coast Doubles Championship, in La Jolla, Calif.
The tournament attracted many collegiate teams, including Stanford, USC, Cal and UC Davis.
No. 4 UCLA (9-1) entered four doubles pairs in the tournament, one of which made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Senior Clay Thompson and freshman Joseph DiGiulio won their first four rounds of the competition before losing 8-3 in the quarterfinals to Cal’s Gregory Bayane and Chasen Melton.
Other doubles pairs for UCLA included McDonald and Sell, Wee and Nguyen, and Guzman and Tachi. None of these however, lasted past the second round.
This Thursday, the Bruins will face off against the No. 10 Virginia Cavaliers at home. The two teams met last year in the NCAA championship, with Virginia narrowly edging UCLA 4-3 to win the title.
