ASUCLA Board of Directors meeting recap: Feb. 28

Associated Students UCLA is a multimillion-dollar organization that provides student services and activities that the university does not fund. It oversees the Undergraduate Students Association Council, Graduate Students Association, Communications Board, campus services and enterprises.
PROPOSALS
- The board passed an amended version of a financial agreement with Student Media. The agreement will grant Student Media a $200,000 line of credit. The time frame for the line of credit will be determined after the Communications Board, an independent subset of ASUCLA that oversees Student Media, passes next year’s budget.
- Members discussed development of an official philanthropy policy that would provide specific guidelines about what to do if students groups asked the board to donate money to a specific cause.
- Members passed a motion to install reclining chairs in Kerckhoff Hall or Ackerman Union for students to use for napping, studying or relaxing.
STORE
- Bear Wear sales were slower this month than last year.
- Licensing revenue was lower this month than usual.
- Students voted on a design for the new UCLA library mug.
CONSTRUCTION
- Jamba Juice completed its remodel.
- The restoration of”The Black Experience” muralon the first floor of Ackerman Union is almost complete.
FOOD
- North Campus food sales were down in January.
- Food sales at Lu Valle Commons were up in January.
