Feb. 21, 2014 12:30 a.m.

UCLA ecology, behavior and evolution student Ying Zhi bakes miniature food-themed jewelry, explaining that “art is like my escape from school.” Zhi started her homemade jewelry business in her home in Singapore, and brought her craft with her when she moved to Los Angeles for school. She explains that art and science are not as different as one may think, as each “encourages you to be really into detail.” The themes of her jewelry range from miniature cake rings to sushi earrings.
