“Bringing males of color together, that in itself is a huge accomplishment,” said Timothy McDaniel, a member of Project Fatherhood. Project Fatherhood, which takes place at the Jordan Downs Community Center in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, is a multifaceted parenting program that benefits from its collaborations with Dr. Jorja Leap, a UCLA public affairs professor, and community leaders. The program features open dialogue forums where men from the community can discuss issues ranging from keeping their kids in school to battling gang-influence.
