Number of international students enrolled at UCLA rises

The number of international students enrolled at UCLA rose by about 1,700 in the past year, according to a report released Monday by the Institute of International Education.

UCLA enrolled a total of 8,424 international students for the 2012-2013 year, up from 6,703 students the previous year. UCLA is ranked sixth in the nation for enrolling high numbers of international students.

There are more international students than ever before, according to the report. The report accounted for a total of 819,644 students for the 2012-2013 year, a 7.2 percent increase from the previous year.

China, India, South Korea and Saudi Arabia produced the most international students.

California enrolled 111,379 international students, the most out of any U.S. state.
