A UCLA student was arrested on suspicion of battery last week after allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face multiple times near the entrance to Moore Hall, officials said.

Zhihao Fan, 19, was arrested just after 11 a.m. on Oct. 8, said university police Lt. Mark Littlestone. He was released later that day with the promise to appear in court, Littlestone said.

His girlfriend, also a UCLA student, walked away from the scene, Littlestone said. It is unclear whether she went to the hospital afterward, he added.

Fan’s arraignment will be on Nov. 22.
