The security breach in 2006 was the worst incident of its kind in UCLA’s history. Social security numbers and other sensitive information for hundreds of thousands of UC faculty, staff, students, and even applicants and parents of applicants were put at risk. Adjunct professor Peter Reiher, who is currently teaching a course in computer security, discusses the breach, its aftereffects, and current implications for the average student on campus.
