Long Story Short – August 19, 2013

By Christyana Cabal and Ryan Nelson

Aug. 20, 2013 11:24 a.m.

This week Christyana Cabal and Ryan Nelson host Long Story Short. Don’t judge a book by its cover; Long Story Short interviews former UC Santa Cruz banana slug, Virginia Steel about her first month as UCLA’s university librarian. She talks about the Bruin community, current projects such as extending hours at YRL, and shares with us the joys and perks of being a librarian. Afterwards, Opinion columnist Alexandra Tashman joins the studio to discuss the legislation recently passed allowing K-12 students to join sex-segretated programs and activities based on their gender identity. She reviews how that policy has already been implemented on the UCLA campus, and how it is progressing forward.
