Local hot dog chain Fab Hot Dogs opened its doors in Westwood Tuesday, in the space previously occupied by Socko’s Subs.

The restaurant, located at 920 Broxton Ave., marks the chain’s first expansion beyond its original location in Reseda, Calif. The original location was featured on the Food Network show, “Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives.”

The remodeled red and yellow dining area will soon include a new outdoor space where customers can chow down on their pick of hot dogs, bratwursts or burgers. Most of the menu items cost less than $10.

To accommodate the college students and hospital employees and patients in Westwood, the restaurant will stay open later and deliver in the local area, said Joe Fabrocini, owner of Fab Hot Dogs, in January.

The eatery is open until midnight during the week and closes at 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
