Man attempts burglary in Courtside

By Daily Bruin

June 8, 2013 3:42 p.m.

A man broke into a dorm room in Courtside Residential Plaza while students were sleeping at 5:20 a.m. on Friday, according to university police.

No items were stolen and no one was hurt, said Nancy Greenstein, a spokesperson for the university police department.

The man broke into the dorm room through an open window, Greenstein said. The man fled the room when one of the students woke up, Greenstein added.

The man had a medium height and wore a black or navy hooded sweatshirt, according to a police report released Friday.

Police recommend that students keep their windows locked at night and do not allow strangers into their rooms.

Greenstein said the burglary is under active investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident can call UCPD at (310) 825-9371.
