The newest Studio Ghibli film, From Up on Poppy Hill takes place in 1960s Japan, presenting a nostalgic look at a bygone era. The year is 1963, and Japan has found a peaceful rhythm after the war with the countryside’s steady industrialization as preparations begin for the Tokyo Olympics set next year. A fateful encounter between two young students, Umi and Shun, set off on a romantic adventure to unearth their pasts which will galvanize their future.
