May 21, 2012 ““ In the spirit of Taiwanese American Heritage Week, Bruins for Taiwan hosted a workshop titled “Tea 101 and Tea Ritual.” The presentation included taste samples of green tea, pouchong tea, amber oolong and black tea, along with an explanation of how these play a role in the Taiwanese culture. Yet, as a new social change group on campus, the club’s main cup of tea is raising awareness for Taiwan’s struggle for recognition as an independent country. Founder of the club, Ginny Wu, a second-year economics student, and Vice President Robin Lee, a second-year global studies student, share with us the experiences they’ve faced with their Taiwanese American heritage, and how Bruins for Taiwan plans to respond.

Long Story Short streams online Mondays at 6 p.m. on UCLAradio.com. Listen to the whole episode here or visit our broadcast archive.
