Jim L. Mora has been the football coach at UCLA for less than a week, and he has already added five assistant coaches to his staff.

Mora officially announced the hiring of three offensive and two defensive coaches on Thursday, more than halfway to the NCAA limit of nine. Three of Mora’s hires are fresh faces while two have been retained from outgoing coach Rick Neuheisel’s staff.

“Each of these coaches will bring unique qualities to the UCLA football program,” Mora said in a statement. “All of them will be integral pieces of the UCLA football puzzle from their first day on the job.”

On the offensive side, Adrian Klemm will serve as the running game coordinator and offensive line coach. Klemm has been an assistant at Southern Methodist over the past four seasons and was named Rivals.com’s non-BCS recruiter of the year in 2010.

Marques Tuiasosopo will coach the tight ends. Tuiasosopo played for Neuheisel at Washington and worked as an intern this season. He has since been serving as the interim quarterbacks coach during bowl practices.

Mora also hired Steve Broussard away from Arizona State to be his running backs coach. Broussard was the wide receivers coach with the Sun Devils for the past three seasons and will not join UCLA’s staff until after Arizona State’s bowl appearance next week. Several media outlets have reported that Arizona State offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone will also be coming to Westwood as UCLA’s offensive coordinator, though university officials have yet to confirm Mazzone’s hiring.

Defensively, Demetrice Martin will serve as Mora’s defensive backs coach. He held the same post at Washington for the past three seasons. Inoke Breckterfield, the defensive line coach from Neuheisel’s staff, will retain his position.

UCLA took the day off from practice Thursday for a team bonding activity. The Bruins will return to practice Friday as they prepare to play Illinois in the Kraft Fight Hunger bowl on Dec. 31.
