VIDEO: UCLA's Trevor Bauer after 3-1 NCAA regional win over Fresno State

By Daily Bruin Staff

June 4, 2011 7:28 p.m.

UCLA junior pitcher Trevor Bauer kept UCLA’s season alive Saturday at Jackie Robinson Stadium by knocking out Fresno State 3-1.

Bauer struck out 14 Bulldogs on the day and secured the single-season Pac-10 record for strikeouts with 203, eclipsing Mark Prior’s mark of 202 at USC.

He improved to 13-2 on the season and moved his earned run average to 1.25 in what was likely his last start at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Bauer is projected to go in the top 10 of Monday’s Major League Baseball draft.

UCLA will play San Francisco in a rematch Sunday at 2 p.m. The Dons defeated the Bruins on Friday 3-0 but USF appears to be minus a Sunday starter because of an injury to Friday starter Matt Lujan.
