Rock-blues group The Voodoo Fix to perform at Westwood Brewing Company

The rock-blues alternative group The Voodoo Fix will be performing at The Westwood Brewing Company at 11 p.m. this Saturday to celebrate the release of its new album, “Not For Nothing.”
According to bassist and vocalist Will Halsey, aka Captain Willy, The Voodoo Fix harnesses its loud, raw blues sound with influence from Howlin’ Wolf, The Black Keys, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin and Rage Against the Machine.
Last fall, the band members set out to produce and fine-tune a set list for the album. They isolated themselves in a cabin outside Big Bear, where they rocked out for eight hours a day and eventually narrowed their playlist from 30 songs down to 12.
“We were on the grind, practicing every day,” Halsey said.
“Not For Nothing” is the band’s first full-length album. Halsey said that after returning from isolation, the band entered the studio and hammered out the album in a single weekend.
“We recorded everything live,” Halsey said. “And we didn’t play with a metronome. It took all the rigidness out of recording.”
The show will begin at 9 p.m. with performances from an R&B group, the Mason Affair. After The Voodoo Fix’s show, the rock group The Muddy Reds will take the stage.
