The now-infamous “Asians in the Library” video has garnered numerous responses on YouTube, from parodies to serious reflections about race.
This virtual discussion has shed light on the under-representation of Asians in the mass media, addressed people’s extreme reactions and corrected statements made in the original video. Despite the backlash, a single YouTube clip has generated a discussion ““ in the form of vlogs and humorous songs ““ about stereotypes, ignorance and the state of racism in America today.

“It’s good that she deleted (the video), it’s good that she deleted her channel. … But I think she should put out at least an apology video for everyone to see. I know a lot of people are still going to hate her. I wish we could all just be positive and not spread the hate.”

“You don’t see a lot of Asians on TV, so of course there’s going to be some misconceptions. For example, when I worked at Foot Locker, there was a black chick that came up to me, and she saw my name tag, said, “˜Tim … Don’t you all have names like Ming and Ling?’ … People are just ignorant. They’re not trying to be racist; they’re just ignorant.”

(Singing) I hope one day you can meet my mother, brothers, sisters, grandmothers, grandpas and cousins … ’cause what they’re really doing on those Friday nights is showing me how to cook and dress ’cause baby I wanna take you out and blow your freakin’ mind.
