Johnson Lay
First-year, biochemistry and philosophy

When you donate money to the UCLA campus, funds should definitely go to students. Without students, there would be no college. Scholarships would definitely be a great idea.

Billy Lin
Second-year, physiological science

Structural things are the right idea, but they should be geared towards the students or towards research … like arts centers and libraries.

Vanessa Goh
Second-year, environmental science

Probably to help keep more of the teachers’ jobs … through grants or something. I think if they want to help our school, they should raise the quality of our education before they raise the quality of our buildings.

Joe Rodrigues
Fourth-year, microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics

I just think that it’s kind of insensitive when you’re building things like the faculty center. It’s like when that group of highly paid execs asked for pensions. … They could have done it at a different time. I think we should focus more on student fee raises.
