Feb. 20, 2011 1:38 p.m.

A sea of hands flowing in rhythm.

Fist pumps, gigantic leaps, sounds of screaming and tears of joy all came when the 26th hour hit.

$410,530.68. It is the largest amount raised by Dance Marathon to date.

Dance Marathoners came to life as the final amount was presented on placard cards to the crowd.

Rewind five minutes. “Don’t Stop Believin‘” by Journey echoed throughout Ackerman Grand Ballroom as students shouted the lyrics. One guy was thrown high in the air. Moment of fame, check.

After the song finished, it was finally 1 p.m. The majority of the participants immediately sat. Never has hardwood felt so good. Many dance marathoners ran to their cameras to snap pictures with their friends. It was a memorable feat for a special cause.

A photo presentation played shortly thereafter. It captured many of the unforgettable moments and ended with the line, “When there is a cure, we’ll dance for joy, until then, we dance for life.”
