Get amped for Dance Marathon

Dance Marathon 2011, themed “Power Up,” is fewer than 24 hours away! While your fellow Bruins are getting ready for 26 hours on their feet, we here at the Daily Bruin are doing our own prep work and will be right in the mix, reporting on the latest events as they happen.

Once the dancing starts at 11 a.m. tomorrow, be sure to check back here for hourly updates on all things Dance Marathon, from wacky costumes (this year’s themes include cartoons, creepy crawlies and superheroes) to student performances to celebrity sightings.

Now in its 10th year, Dance Marathon has raised a total of $2.15 million for HIV/AIDS groups. With more than 1,500 dancers, we expect this year’s event will add a hefty sum to that number. Be sure to stay tuned for the grand total raised through this year’s fundraising efforts, which will be revealed at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Whether you’re planning on dancing, moraling or just following along from home, get amped and ready for 26 hours of crazy coverage. We can’t wait to see you there.
