The Daily Bruin Radio Show: A Poetry Jam with a Cause

By Christina Hughes

Nov. 15, 2010 10:11 p.m.

“My tongue is like a needle scratching through the grooves of a lost wisdom, trying to find a faith that beats like yours. What secrets do your bones hold?”

That’s an excerpt from spoken word artist Mayda del Valle’s performance at the White House. In this interview, will preview UCLA’s first ever Poetry Jam where del Valle will take center stage. Reporter Christina Hughes got the chance to talk with John Freedman from OneHEARTSource to learn about the event and see what he hopes to achieve with it.

The Daily Bruin Radio Show airs Mondays at 6:00 p.m. on UCLAradio.com.
