The UCLA women’s track and field team headed into the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo on Saturday looking to get some important work in before the main stretch of the outdoor season began.

What they came away with were seven event wins.

Earning her second consecutive win in back to back weekends, junior Ashlea McLaughlin won the 800 meter, posting a time of 2:10.39, a full seven seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.

Sophomore Yasmin Woodruff won the 200m with a time of 25.07.

In a solid overall performance, junior Lindsay Rowe won the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.68. She then backed it up with a fifth-place finish in the 100m (12.25).

The Bruin pole vaulters continued to be dominant, led by senior Tori Pena, who cleared 12-11.50, good enough for a first-place finish.

Making her season debut, freshman Turquiose Thompson won the 400m, posting a time of 54.46.

Almost adding two more to the win column for the Bruins, junior Joy Eaton earned two impressive second-place finishes in the 800m and 400m with times of 2:17.41 and 54.70, respectively.

UCLA will compete on their home turf at Drake Stadium in the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational this upcoming weekend.
