Freshman setter Lauren Cook to transfer to Nebraska

By Daily Bruin Staff

Jan. 11, 2010 10:32 a.m.

Lauren Cook is now a Cornhusker, the Bruins’ starting setter of the past season announced today. Cook will play for her father, Nebraska coach John Cook, on what will
be one of the most experienced squads in the NCAA next year.

The
freshman started all 32 matches for the Bruins last year and earned
the Andi Collins award for the nation’s top high school setter. Cook also
earned Pac-10 Freshman of the Year honors and, at 5 feet 7 inches, shorter
than most setters, was known for her elusive setting abilities.
