Women’s volleyball opens conference tonight against Arizona State

By Daily Bruin Staff

Sept. 24, 2009 9:26 p.m.

The No. 14 UCLA women’s volleyball team (10-3 0-0 Pac-10) will face the Arizona State Sun Devils (11-0, 0-0) for its conference opener tonight in Tempe, Ariz. They will then take a short trip to Tuscon, Ariz. to face the undefeated Arizona Wildcats (11-0, 0-0) on Saturday.

The Bruins are finishing off their season-opening 15-match road trip this weekend. Coming off two startling losses at the hands of Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State at last weekend’s Brea Embassy Suites Fullerton Classic, UCLA had a slight reality check after their road upset of then-No. 5 Nebraska.

The six sets the Bruins dropped last weekend in Fullerton represent six of their total of 11 sets lost this season.

Both matches will begin at 7 p.m., and fans can follow the matches on Gametracker through UCLABruins.com.
