The University of California is not the only educational institution that has raised student fees to offset the reduction in state funding.

On Tuesday, the California State University Board of Trustees voted to increase student fees by 20 percent, or $672, effective fall 2009, according to a CSU statement. This increase is in addition to the 10 percent, or $306, fee increase that was approved in May.

As a result, CSU undergraduates will now pay approximately $4,026 a year, according to the statement.

A CSU spokesman was not available for comment.
