U.S. News & World Report ranks Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA among top in nation

Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA is ranked one of the best pediatric hospitals in the nation in the August issue of U.S. News & World Report.
The magazine, which publishes annual rankings of America’s best education systems, recognized the Mattel Children’s Hospital for excellence in nine out of 10 pediatric specialties evaluated.
“This is a tribute to all of the staff at the hospital who work so hard to provide the best possible care for the kids and their families,” said Dr. Edward McCabe, who holds the Mattel Executive Endowed Chair in pediatrics and is the hospital’s chief physician. “We are obviously excited and very gratified about the news.”
McCabe specifically congratulated the faculty of the hospital’s kidney disorders and digestive disorders programs, which were ranked the highest on the West Coast. He said the hospital strives to improve the health of today and tomorrow’s children, and the magazine’s ranking is recognition of that effort.
“We’re giving the best possible care that we can to the kids we take care of now, and we’re also a teaching and researching institution “¦ for the children 10 or 20 years from now,” he said.
Mattel Children’s Hospital is the pediatric component of the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, which opened in June 2008 and is currently ranked the third best hospital in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.
