Steven Perry, 42, was arrested Thursday after being allegedly caught masturbating near a sleeping woman in Kaufman Hall, according to university police.

Perry attempted to flee when police arrived at the scene, at which point officers used a Taser gun to subdue him. He was found to be carrying a knife, UCPD Capt. John Adams said.

Adams said the use of a Taser is “pretty standard when someone is struggling to help prevent injury to the suspect and the officers.”

Perry has been charged with three counts of felony: one for assaulting a police officer, one for willfully exposing his private parts in public, and one for dangerous possession of a weapon, Adams said.

He remains in custody without bail at the Los Angeles County sheriff’s office.
