A few women’s water polo coaches, including Krikorian, are thrown in the pool after the Bruins defeated Stanford 5-4 to win the university’s 100th national championship as well as the team’s fourth straight.
Krikorian embraces then-senior driver Nicolette Grams after leading the women’s team to a 12-7 victory over Long Beach State on senior day, capping off an undefeated regular season. The Bruins continued their undefeated streak to the national championship.
Krikorian instructs his players during their match against Stanford. The Bruins upset the Cardinal in a 9-8 overtime thriller. The victory gave the Bruins better seeding in the MPSF tournament. The Bruins eventually won their second-straight national title.
Now the men’s co-coach, along with Baker and the rest of the Bruins, Krikorian celebrates UCLA’s 12-11 victory over Stanford in the MPSF Championship. Krikorian eventually took sole leadership of both the men’s and women’s programs as Baker departed to coach the U.S. women’s national team.
As an undergraduate assistant coach for the men, Krikorian already had a presence in the team huddles. With then head coach Guy Baker, Krikorian gives his former teammates some late-game advice in their 12-10 loss to the Trojans.
