The UCLA women’s water polo team won its fifth consecutive NCAA Championship with a 5-4 upset victory over rival USC on Sunday night in College Park, Md.

With the win, coach Adam Krikorian took his seventh women’s water polo title in his last game as head of the women’s program. With the season over, Krikorian will now begin his duties as the U.S. National team coach.

The championship is UCLA’s first of the academic year and its 104th overall. It is the 11th title in the history of the women’s water polo program.

UCLA jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter that it never relinquished. The Bruins led the Women of Troy 5-3 at the half, and after USC scored the only goal of the second half the final score was set.

Goalie Brittany Fullen recorded double-digit saves on the day, and held onto the ball for the final 10 seconds after the Women of Troy took their final shot.
