March 4, 2009 10:12 a.m.

A BruinAlert was sent out at 12:57 p.m. today alerting students of a possible threat. Nancy Greenstein, a spokeswoman for university police, said someone noticed a taped-up box between two cars on the B-1 level of Parking Structure 1. The Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad was called, and Greenstein said the squad was on its way as of 1:05 p.m.

Students and faculty with cars parked in the structure should “wait for an all-clear sign” before trying to get to their cars, Greenstein said. A follow-up BruinAlert will most likely go out as soon as the threat is evaluated.

“We’ll make sure we get the information out,” Greenstein said.
