Photo essay: Looking beyond Black History Month

Black History Month is a time to reminisce on the struggles and accomplishments of blacks, but this effort does not stop with the end of February, especially on the UCLA campus.
The Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies as well as student groups such as the Afrikan Student Union make sure this pursuit is maintained.
Professors and students alike dedicate their time and effort to the pursuit of awareness about black history and politics. UCLA offers specialized classes, guest speakers, student-led discussions and off-campus events. These forms of spreading education and awareness do not start or end in February, but continue throughout the year with the help of the Afro-American Studies Department and student groups.
Students, faculty and the general public can take advantage of these different outlets at UCLA to expand their knowledge and understanding of black history, culture, arts and the critical issues that affect black populations today.
