BruinAlert to test system

Feb. 24, 2009 10:00 p.m.

A test of the UCLA BruinAlert system will occur at noon today, using e-mail, text messaging, campus radio and television stations to provide information and instruct students in the case of an emergency.

Outdoor loud speakers located in North Campus areas will be used, along with those on Bruin Walk, the IM Field, residence halls and Dickson Court.

The BruinAlert messages will be broadcast on televisions across campus and on the emergency radio AM 1630.

The test is part of a regular effort to ensure the notification system is working properly. The emergency notifications will be sent out simultaneously to faculty, staff and students.

For those UCLA community members who have not subscribed to the BruinAlert test messages, go to the BruinAlert Web site or call UCLA Emergency Management at (310) 825-6800.

Compiled by Carolyn McGough, Bruin senior staff.
