A sexual battery was reported to university police early Sunday morning, marking the second battery in Westwood in the past week.

An unknown male suspect approached a UCLA staff member on Sunday at 1:30 a.m., according to UCPD crime logs.

The victim was walking along Westwood Boulevard near Le Conte Avenue.

The suspect approached the victim and attempted to converse with her. He grabbed her breast and buttocks and then fled, according to the reports.

A separate sexual battery was also reported to university police on Jan. 21 at 2:15 a.m.

UCPD spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said the events were unrelated.

“It’s not the same person,” Greenstein said. “They occurred on different sides of the campus.”

The Jan. 21 battery occurred on the 500 block of Glenrock Avenue, according to UCPD reports.

Greenstein added that the descriptions of the two suspects were different.

The Jan. 25 suspect was reported to be 5 feet, 5 inches tall, according to the reports. The suspect on Jan. 21 was reported to be 6 feet tall.

Greenstein said UCPD is currently investigating, and continues to encourage community members to refrain from walking alone late at night.

Students should call an escort if they must walk at night and should remain alert.
