Coming off a pair of wins against Miami and New Mexico at the UCLA Women’s Cup last weekend, the second-ranked UCLA women’s soccer team (7-0-2) registered a scoreless tie against Santa Clara (3-5-2) on national television.

The Bruins picked up their eighth straight shutout after breaking the school record of six consecutive shutouts against New Mexico. Redshirt senior Ashley Thompson played the entire match, recording her third shutout for the season.

UCLA missed an opportunity to score early in the game. In the second minute, midfielder McCall Zerboni had possession of the ball on the left side of the box about 5 yards away from the goal. Zerboni’s shot rebounded back to her after Bronco goalkeeper Meagan McCray made the save. When the Bruins fired off another shot, the ball hit the goalpost.
