Hail to the hills of Westwood, the halls of Kerckhoff and the havoc of the Daily Bruin; they have brought me joy and given me an experience I will never forget. Broken monitors, spinning wheels of death, shouts for a better lead-in, slow printers, quick minds and quicker wits have been what defined my Sundays for the past two years and have made my time at UCLA all the more invaluable (despite the $20,000 price tag).

It may escape our readers that all of our issues were made by students just like you: students with jobs, friends, classes and lives, who care enough to take down what life on campus is and bring it to you in a nicely bundled broadsheet for your reading and viewing pleasure (you’re welcome). The dedication the staff has shown to this paper inspires me every day to remember what my goals are, and for that I am thankful to every person who has worked so hard in that unventilated, crowded, crazy room that has been home. May it all bring us more work!

Nobody outside the office may know how long it can take to get an 18-inch story to fit on a crowded spread, so I’ll mention it here: It can take a while. In that spirit, here is a special shout-out to the design staff, ironically the "unseen" hand that puts it all together; we make this paper look good. My role in the production of the paper has been great fun and has provided me with opportunities I had not imagined, from an internship to a job offer. Best of all, after four years of school I finally get to submit work that can be printed in a font other than Times New Roman. In my book, there can be nothing better.

Cheers to the staff, our readers, and our supporters; seeing all the copies read during lecture, hidden under chairs and carried along with armfuls of books has been a daily reminder of the value of our work. We have all been honored to be a part of your Bruin life.

Bueno was Design staff from 2006-2008. She will be working as a production assistant at a local magazine, while pursuing a master’s degree and working her way toward National Geographic Magazine.
