Female student allegedly assaulted on Gayley Avenue

A female student was allegedly assaulted while walking along Gayley Avenue early Friday morning, marking the second such incident in three days.
The woman was walking alone on Gayley Avenue about 3:50 a.m. when she was grabbed from behind by the neck and shoulders and hit on the head, according to a crime alert issued by university police.
The woman escaped her alleged attacker, but was not able to see the person.
This is the second time this week a female student has reported being assaulted in the North Village during the early hours of the morning.
On Tuesday at about 2:25 a.m., a woman was confronted by a man in the lobby of her apartment at 685 Kelton Ave. The man allegedly grabbed the woman in a chokehold and hit her head against the wall before fleeing.
Though police have so far given no indication that the two incidents are related, the crime alert did advise Westwood residents to avoid walking alone and to immediately alert UCPD of any suspicious behavior.
The alert also urged students to immediately go to a public, well-lit area if they believe they are being followed.
