THE FIRST 99 ““ 2000: Women's Gymnastics wins title No. 81 for UCLA

Note from The Sports Desk: With UCLA closing in
on its 100th NCAA title, the sports section is pulling articles
from the Daily Bruin archives that document past Bruin NCAA titles.
The articles will run once a week on Wednesday under a special flag
making it clear that, for example, John Wooden didn’t just
win his latest title on Oct. 3, 2006. Our hope is it that the
articles open up a window into the proud history of UCLA sports and
give those who follow the Bruins a deeper understanding of how the
school and athletics have evolved as the titles have added up and
the tradition has grown.
