During these runoff elections, as current members of the
Facilities Commission, we believe that Dorothy Le is the best
candidate to be Facilities commissioner next year.
As the in-house candidate, Le has the experience and dedication
to lead the commission.
As a point person for transportation issues, Le helped educate
students on the Hill about alternative transportation such as the
Big Blue Bus. She distributed information about Flexcar, shuttles,
carpooling and bicycling so students could be aware of the various
transportation options available to them. She advised and worked
with our staff to help create a pilot recycling program for De
Neve’s Evergreen and Fir buildings.
As a commission representative, she was a co-chair of the Earth
Day Task Force and collaborated with others to put on an Earth Day
celebration with over 10 student group co-sponsors, and encouraged
USAC to adopt a sustainability resolution to promote sustainability
on an ongoing basis.
In terms of Westwood relations, Le was an integral part of
creating and implementing the Golden Paws Award, which rewards
student-friendly businesses in Westwood. She was always willing to
give valuable input and speak with Westwood businesses. Le has been
a supporter of this award from the very beginning, bringing
invaluable insight to our endeavors.
Working with Le has been rewarding and we look forward to
working with her next year. She is committed to the commission and
its goals no matter what the election results are this week. Next
year, regardless of who is elected to be Facilities commissioner,
the Golden Paws Award will continue and expand, and Le will
continue to be an inspiring and inclusive leader on campus. As
members of the Facilities Commission, we urge the student body to
vote for Dorothy Le, the in-house candidate for Facilities
commissioner.
Angela Cheung, Kelley Haddigan, Shelley Truong and Divya
Sudhaka are Facilities Commission staff members.
