CAMPUS EVENTS COMISSIONER: Dehar the best choice for organizing student shindigs

Without question, independent candidate Ravi Dehar is the most
qualified candidate for Campus Events commissioner. As the in-house
candidate and this year’s director of the Associated Students
Speakers Series, only Dehar demonstrates an understanding of the
inner workings of Campus Events necessary to serve in such a
specialized position.
In addition, the board is impressed that he has specific plans
to potentially solicit sponsors for BruinBash, improve customer
service and add more electronic media to the Campus Events Web
site.
His overarching idea is to make Campus Events more
student-friendly, be it through selling candy at the movies or
letting people print out movie tickets online to save them the trip
to the third floor of Kerckhoff.
Dehar also wants to help other student groups on campus with
their events through providing guidance on programming and ways to
effectively promote those events.
When it comes to the Campus Events Commission, Dehar knows what
works and what doesn’t and he will improve the work of a
commission that serves students regularly.
In contrast, if Slate Refund candidate Kyle Hyman were to win
this race, it would be potentially disastrous for the close-knit
commission.
His ideas are not practical and the fact that Hyman also lacks
necessary knowledge concerning the organization is even more
troubling.
