After a breakup, you always either end up looking your best or
your worst. You either wear your sexiest clothes or sweat pants
every day; you either make a point of going to the gym or you sit
on the couch watching movies; and you either eat more salads than
your average rabbit or more ice cream than Ben and Jerry
combined.

With that in mind, take a quick peek at page nine of this
newspaper. Notice anything different? A whole page of A&E in
the Daily Bruin, published on a Monday? For most of you, this is
new, but to anyone who was reading The Bruin during the 2002-2003
school year (in other words, seniors), the page will look
familiar.

As a senior myself, I remember working to switch the A&E
section from a daily page to dB Mag. Since then, to the moderate
chagrin of most of the people involved, it has become necessary to
switch back. In other words, after a three-year relationship with
dB, we’re breaking up. And we want to look our best. From now
on, we’re going to appear in the Daily Bruin every day.

Our effort to impress will, of course, partly highlight our
begrudging dismay at having to impress at all, but after some time,
all wounds will mend. We’ll stop calling long stories
“covers” and start calling them
“centerpieces.” We’ll try not to cry when
Thursday’s paper looks like every other day’s. And
we’ll resist the urge to take a day off. Hopefully, you will
too.
