UCLA’s Dance Marathon, an annual event put on to raise
money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, surpassed
its goal of a quarter million dollars by gathering $268,881.31 this
past Presidents’ Day Weekend. Beginning at 11 a.m., Ackerman
Grand Ballroom, decorated with the theme “World Tour 2006,
Destination: Cure,” became home to 742 dancers who made a
pledge to go without sitting or sleeping for 26 hours. Over 1,000
moralers also attended the event. The money raised will go toward
research, prevention, service and counseling programs for children
infected with HIV/AIDS worldwide.
