Do you think Westwood is declining in light of the possible
closing of the Mann Theatre? Kelly Randell Fourth-year,
English
“I think it’s terrible that they close
any of the old theaters, but as far as the whole area declining, I
wouldn’t say that much. But it’s a shame we’re
losing the theater. I think the history of Westwood is so
important, especially for students, and we have such a great film
program here.” Lysa Tran Fourth-year,
biology
“Possible closing? Really? Oh. I guess so.
Mann Theatre is really a landmark of Westwood, so the quality would
be lowered. Westwood is known for having the Mann Theatre, and if
you took it away, then a new landmark would have to form and
it’s going to take a while for it to be popular.”
Noah Gutierrez Fifth-year, anthropology “I
do … I think UCLA is associated with movies, with entertainment,
so if one of the movie theatres closes it just seems to take away
from that legacy.”
