Alleged robber to face charges

Dec. 11, 2005 9:00 p.m.

A man arrested for a series of robberies that occurred in late
spring and summer in the Westwood Village area will face larceny
charges at a court hearing next week.

William Taylor’s charges include two counts of
second-degree robbery and one count of second-degree burglary.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 22 at the Los
Angeles Superior Court’s Airport Courthouse.

Taylor was arraigned for the alleged crimes in late September
after his arrest on Sept. 27.

Taylor is believed to be involved in two robberies in Westwood
Village that occurred in the spring and summer of 2005, said
Detective Warren Porche of the Los Angeles Police Department, West
L.A. Division.

University police said there was no UCPD involvement in the
investigation or apprehension of the suspect.

Between June 26 and July 24, four people, including two
22-year-old UCLA students, were robbed at gunpoint in the Westwood
area.

Most of the incidents occurred between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Two UCLA students were also robbed near the west side of campus
in October.

The status of the October cases is unknown.
