U.S. aid to Israel destructive
While you’re waiting in that long line at the post office
tonight, holding your hard-earned money, think about where exactly
your money is going. From 1949 to 1997, about $134,791,507,200 of
U.S. taxpayers’ dollars went toward Israel, and this should
make you stop and think twice as to why.
Much of this will be used to fund the Israeli military and
purchase new military technology, instead of being used for the
betterment of the lives of U.S. citizens domestically.
The continuing aid fuels the increasing instability and human
suffering in the region by providing resources that allow the
ongoing violent struggle to continue. By strengthening the Israeli
military establishment, U.S. aid to Israel makes it more difficult
for both Palestinians and for progressive Israelis to create a
civil society committed to peace and justice in the region. Surely
there is a better use for the hard-earned money of millions of U.S.
citizens.
