Jessye Norman Royce Hall April 2, 8 p.m.

Just because you’re on spring break doesn’t mean
that you have to settle for mindless dance rhythms at parties when
it comes to music. Soprano Jessye Norman, accompanied by pianist
Mark Markham, will perform works by classical composers including
Strauss, Ravel and Purcell for students with a more traditional
taste in music. She’ll even sing some spirituals to keep you
from feeling too pretentious on your academic vacation. So head
back to Los Angeles early and experience the weird sensation of
going to campus by choice on a Saturday night when class
isn’t even in session. Tickets are $25 for students. For more
information visit www.uclalive.org.
